The society had its most recent Annual General Meeting on Sunday, 6th August

the Schubertiade and elected the following committee:

Goetz is Chair of the Strings Department, Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Previously, he was Associate Concertmaster of the Sydney Symphony. Goetz is founder
& director of the Sydney Schubert Ensemble, a chamber music group combining
members of the Sydney Symphony and the Conservatorium of music.
Goetz's deep love for the music of Schubert together with his insightful musical,
historical & socio-political analysis of the works, their origin
& significance gives the Schubertiades an extra dimension on top of the
deeply moving performances we are accustomed to
hear.

Jeanell Carrigan |
Jeanell is Lecturer in Ensemble Studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and
a sought-after ensemble pianist.

Secretary, Public Officer & Website Publisher:
|
Richard Buckdale
|
|
Richard is a retired computer consultant & mathematician and an amateur classical pianist with his own amateur chamber music ensemble,
MAG Ensemble.
His love of Schubert formed as a young kid, when the Unfinished
Symphony on 78s was one of his favourite works. He has performed solo piano
works for the Australian Musicians Academy including Schubert's Moment
Musicaux No 2, for which he received acclaim by Australian composer
Dulcie Holland.

|
Assistant Secretary: |
Murray Johnstone |
|
Murray is a retired petroleum geologist. In 1974 he was awarded the West Australian
Citizen of the Year for the Professions.
In Murray's family, classical music was not played at all. He was first attracted
to classical music as a young teenager by the Disney film Fantasia. Now
an avid opera & chamber music fan, his love of Schubert & our Schubertiades
knows no bounds.
|
|
Treasurer: |
Bob Smith |
|
Bob first heard about the Sydney Schubert Society from Robert Gay, when attending
a lecture course at Sydney University. He has been hooked on Schubert ever since.
The society is very fortunate to have Bob, a retired accountant, as Treasurer

Maire Glacken |
|
Maire is currently a program co-ordinator for Northside Opera Study Group, and since
August 1997, was our hard-working Treasurer.
Her special interest is to find effective
ways to publicise our Schubertiades and other society events with the limited
budget at our disposal.
|
|
|
Ross Hayes |
|
Ross is an engineer and public speaker (former President of NSW Rostrum) who has
a love of chamber music. He enjoys the performance intimacy of chamber music and
believes that this is exemplified by the Schubertiades of the Sydney Schubert Society.
As a life member and committee member, he assists with the promotion of our society.
