Eun-Jung Byun, Ensemble Pianist
Eun-Jung
Byun has been highly successful in building her reputation in a specialized area
of ensemble piano. She has been working as an accompanist in the Vocal/Opera Unit
of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music after her completion of the Master of Performance
(Accompaniment) degree. She has played in masterclasses with Janice Chapman, Steven
Isserlis & Ian Brown, Yvonne Kenny & Iain Burnside and Julian Rachlin &
Itamar Golan.
Eun-Jung studied with Elizabeth Powell and David Miller.
During her studies, she performed in partnership with Andrew Barnes, Susan Blake,
Rowena Cowley, Wendy Dixon, Michael Halliwell, Georg Pedersen and Barry Ryan. She
now works regularly with the students of Goetz Richter and Maree Ryan.
The recipient of numerous scholarships and prizes, Eun-Jung
was selected to take part in the student exchange program at the Royal Academy of
Music,
London. She was awarded the International Exchange Scholarship and the
College
of
Humanities
and Social Science Scholarship from the
University of Sydney
in recognition of her selection as a representative of the university in 2004. She
studied with Clifford Benson and participated in masterclass with Malcolm Martineau.
As well, she was invited to perform at a fundraising concert supporting the Victoria
League Student House for Commonwealth Students at Australia House in
London
.
Eun-Jung is currently a member of the Accompanists’ Guild
of NSW. This year, she will be working as one of the official accompanists for the
McDonald’s Performing Arts Challenge and the NSW Flute Society Eisteddfod. This
is her second appearance at the Sydney Schubert Society Concert series with the
outstanding students from the Vocal/Opera Unit of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
