David Greco, Baritone
David sang at Schubertiade 326
Since graduating from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music
in 2003, David has been engaged as soloist with
Australia
’s finest musical ensembles. He recently made his debut with both the Australian
Chamber Orchestra, under Richard Tognetti in Mozart’s Mass in C minor, and the Sydney
Symphony as Perichaud (La Rondine), under Gianluigi Guilmetti.
David is a member of professional
Sydney
based vocal ensemble Cantillation.
A recent project included appearing as soloist with acclaimed
early music soprano Emma Kirkby on her Australian tour.
He appears regularly with Pinchgut Opera, having been
given the opportunity to sing Pastore and Spirito in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, Un Phrygian
in Rameau’s Dardanus, and Trojani in Mozart’s Idomeneo. This year he will appear
in their performance of the Australian premiere of Vivaldi’s Juditha Triumphans.
Earlier operatic engagements include Papageno (The Magic
Flute) for Pacific Opera and Antonio (The Marriage of Figaro) with the Sydney Conservatorium
Opera.
Last year David was a finalist in the Mietta Song Recital
Award in
Melbourne
.
David has recorded with the ABC classics label, and is
featured on many of their cd releases and live radio broadcasts as soloist with
such ensembles as the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs
and most recently with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra in Mozart’s
Coronation Mass.
David is a member of the Song Company ‘in schools’ program
for Musica Viva.
In August this year David will appear as soloist in Bach
cantatas with the Sydney Chamber Choir in the Bangalow Music Festival.
